María Amelia Calaf Re-Appointed to Hispanic National Bar’s Latina Commission

Continuing her – and Botkin Chiarello Calaf’s – mission to promote diversity in the legal profession, partner María Amelia Calaf (MAC) has been re-appointed to the Latina Commission of the Hispanic National Bar Association. She has served on the Commission since 2022.
“I look forward to working with fellow commissioners to lift up Latinas in the legal profession”, said name partner MAC. “While the total number of Latinas in the profession may still be small, our contributions are many and notable. I am glad that the Commission shines a spotlight on the accomplishments of our practitioners and helps develop the pipeline of future Latina lawyers and leaders.”
The Commission offers professional development and leadership training programs to help advance the careers of Latina attorneys, who account for less than 2% of all lawyers in the United States.
Apart from the HNBA’s Latina Commission, MAC is an accomplished commercial litigator with significant wins at the trial and appellate level. She founded the Austin chapter of Cafecitos, a network dedicated to supporting Latina lawyers, and has been recognized as a Diversity and Inclusion Champion by Texas Lawyer and for her commitment to the Advancement of Women’s Interests by the Travis County Women Lawyers’ Association and the Travis County Women Lawyers’ Foundation. MAC was also named to the inaugural issue of Austin Women Changemakers list, which celebrates the women who are reshaping Austin for the better.
