Experience
Colombina Valera is an Associate at Botkin Chiarello Calaf, focusing on commercial and intellectual property litigation.
Before joining BCC, Colombina served as a two-year term clerk to the Honorable Dustin M. Howell, Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court for Western District of Texas. While at the University Texas School of Law, Colombina was a member of the Texas Hispanic Journal of Law and Policy, The Women’s Law Caucus, and the Chicano/Hispanic Law Students Association. She also participated in the Civil Rights Clinic, where she worked with a Bexar County family on an excessive force case, helped Section 8 housing tenants in landlord-tenant disputes, and successfully represented a client before the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles.
Before law school, Colombina served as Monument Coordinator for the New York City Park’s Department. In this role, Colombina worked with community groups to shepherd monument and public art projects through the City’s public approval process.
A native Austinite, Colombina spends her free time at art museums, traveling with her family, and tackling DIY house projects.
